A “Snitch Ticket” is not a real ticket. It is merely an investigative tool for the police to catch people for violating the red light statutes.

How It Works

Without the court getting involved, the police send you a notice asking you to either admit you are the driver or name the person who is the driver. If the person admits they are the driver, the police file a citation at court and the court sends a real Photo Ticket to the driver. If the person names the true driver, that person gets the real ticket.

Fifth Amendment Rights

You have the right to remain silent under the Fifth Amendment to the United States Constitution. All people within our borders enjoy an absolute privilege against self-incrimination. This means that you do not have to answer a Snitch ticket. You can exercise your rights and toss it in the trash.

  2. Do not have a due date to pay or appear.
  3. Do not include a summons stating “You must pay or appear on or before”
